In the picture above, volunteers from
Central Dakota Humane Society of Mandan and Prairie Paws
Rescue in Jamestown take a break from working with the
animals for a group photo during their time spent at Cedar
Rapids Iowa caring for the animals at the make-shift
shelter. The pound/shelter was destroyed by flood waters and
have no plans on rebuilding. In the Cedar Rapids
community, over 400 city blocks were affected and 4,000
homes destroyed.

Here is a photo of homes swept
away from up stream and caught under the railroad
bridge. |
This is a picture of the railroad
bridge next to the Quaker Oats company...notice the
pontoon, paddle boat and other debris in the bridge
showing how high the water was. |
Many animals are still being
surrendered and need new adopters. Prairie Paws
Brought back three dogs and two adult cats that were owner
surrendered due to the flood. If you can help a
displaced animal in need, please contact Prairie Paws Rescue
for contact information. |
